Dr
Eric Noren MB, BS, MRCP, MRCGP, FP Cert
(1975 Barts)
Doctor
Noren is the practice's senior partner.
Swedish by birth, Dr Noren
emigrated from the Swedish capital Stockholm
to the UK with his family when he was eight
years old. After attending school in Hertfordshire,
Dr Noren studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's
Hospital. A keen sportsman he captained
the soccer team during his tenure at medical
school, from where he qualified in 1975.
Dr Noren spent his first
working years after qualifying specialising
in medical subjects (as opposed to surgery
etc.) before moving into general practice
in 1978. Dr Noren moved to Steyning and
joined the practice in 1979, and having
developed a special interest in diabetes,
also worked at the diabetic clinic at the
Royal Sussex County Hospital for ten years.
Dr Noren resigned this post in 1989 to concentrate
on setting up a diabetic clinic at Steyning
Health Centre, which is now run by Di Griffiths
with occasional help from Dr Noren.
Dr Noren has also developed
an interest in in training doctors for General
Practice, and over the years this has seen
a succession of very talented doctors come
to the practice for training purposes. Almost
all of them are now successful GPs spread
around the UK, most of whom remain friends
of Dr Noren and the Health Centre.
Outside of his work, Dr Noren remains
a keen sportsman. Crumbling knees have meant that
he can no longer play tennis & squash as often
as he would like, but with the bonus that his golf
handicap has come down in recent years! |
