available at the Health Centre & Upper Beeding
Surgery.
| 'Activity
For Health' Scheme |
Horsham District Exercise Referral Scheme,
which aims to improve the health of people
suffering from a number of conditions through
exercise programmes at local fitness centres.
Patients suffeing from a range of debilitating
conditions may be eligible for this referral
including those with coronary artery risk
high factors, diabetes, asthma, COAD, osteoporosis,
back pain, anxiety, depression, and those
suffering from obesity.

Tests |
Blood
tests are undertaken each weekday morning between
9.00am and 10.15am at the Health Centre treatment
room and between 9.30am and 10.30am at Upper Beeding.
Appointments are not required. |
| Cardiac
Clinic |
Our Cardiac Nurse has specilist
training in coronary heart disease, secondary
prevention and cardiac rehabilitation. The
clinics are held on Wednesday & Friday
mornings by appointment. Please phone 01903 843401

& Baby Clinic |
Health
Visitor Clinic, Steyning - Every Tuesday
at the Health Centre.
10.30-11.30am Child Health Clinic
2.00-3.30pm Immunisation/developmentals only
Health Visitor Clinic, Beeding - Every Thursday at Upper Beeding Village Hall.
10.00-11.00am Baby weighing
1.45-3.15pm Immunisation/developmentals only
These clinics are run by health visitors to
check babies and children are growing and developing
normally. A doctor is available on alternate weeks
and can offer the usual childhood vaccinations. |

Immunisation Clinic |
Carried out each Tuesday
afternoon at Steyning Health Centre on an
appointment only basis. Immunisations are
offered against a number of potentially
dangerous illnesses - Measles, Mumps, German
Measles, Whooping cough, Diphtheria, Tetanus,
Polio, Tuberculosis.

| Podiatry |
There
is a podiatry clinic for patients of retirement age,
diabetics, disabled persons, expectant mothers and
children under the age of 16. Please ask for an application
form at the Health Centre reception desk. Patients
are seen every 3-4 months.

| Counselling |
A
counsellor is based at the Health Centre for patients
undergoing emotional or mental difficulties. She
can be seen via referral from your GP. |
| Diabetes
Clinic |
Two
of our nurses have specialist training in treating
diabetes. Clinics are held at Steyning Health Centre
on Tuesdays and Wednesdays by appointment.

| Dietician |
A
dietician is available at the Health Centre
once a month to advise on healthy eating. Please book an appointment
in the usual manner on 01903 843401. |
| District
Nurses |
District nurses are based
at the Health Centre. Enquiries about nursing
advice and care should be made direct to
the nurse team on 01903 843413 between 9.00am
and 4.30pm. |
| Family
Planning/HRT/Smears |
We
have a nurse who specialises in dealing
with women's health issues. She is able
to give advice on the menopause and osteoporosis
and carry out cervical smears and breast
examinations.
We also have two nurses
in the practice who are available for family
planning advice and can also carry out cervical
smears, and breast examinations. Clinics
are held on a Wednesday and Thursday.

| Health
Promotion Clinic |
These 'prevention
of illness' clinics are held regularly. Ask your
doctor for an 'MOT' appointment or check-up if you
have not seen a GP in the last three years. |
| Health Visitors |
We have
two health visitors who are able to give advice
to expectant mothers, mothers with young children
and the elderly. Please phone 01903 843410 before 10.00am if possible as they leave to make their visits at
this time. |
| Midwives |
Midwives from
Worthing Hospital hold two clinics a week. A clinic
is held at the Beeding Surgery on Monday mornings,
and on a Tuesday morning the midwives are at Steyning
Health Centre.

for either clinic. |
| Minor
Surgery |
Your GP can carry out a number
of small 'surgical' procedures for you such as
removal of warts and skin tags. Liquid Nitrogen
is available on a Monday and Friday afternoon. |
| Physiotherapy |
Physiotherapy is available at the Health
Centre for a range of injuries and mobility problems
by referral from your GP. |
| Social
Workers |
Patients
have access to social workers who are based
in Horsham. Should you need to see one,
you can arrange an appointment to be held
at either of our surgeries or in your own
home. The

| Speech
Therapy |
A speech
therapist is available at Steyning Health Centre
once a week. Please contact your doctor or health
visitor for a referral if you feel you or your children
could benefit from this service. |
| Stop
Smoking Clinic |
Free
help is avilable if you want to quit from
qualified NHS stop smoking advisors.Please
call 01903 843400 for more details. |
| Travel
Clinics |
Holiday/Travel
Vaccinations are available at our
Travel Clinic held on Wednesday afternoons
between 3.00 and 6.00pm. The nurses who
staff these can also give you advice on
which vaccines you need. Ensure you have
an appointment booked at least 2 months
before your date of travel to ensure vaccines
have time enough to work. Unfortunately
a charge has to be made for some of these
travel vaccinations.

| Treatment
Room Nurses |
The treatment
room is staffed by experienced RGNs who provide
back-up for the practice in terms of venepuncture
(taking blood samples), test procedures, administering
injections and general advice. |
| Vaccinations |
Flu
Vaccinations are available for
'at risk' patients in October and November.
Please ring the Health Centre to find out
flu clinic times and dates.
Tetanus
Vaccination is very important and
we recommend a booster injection every 10
years. |
